The problem
Reticule crosshairs and telemetry graphics can hide important visual information in video frames. The task was to identify those regions and reconstruct a useful approximation of the pixels beneath them.
EXPERIENCE / FIELD NOTES
STUDENT · BUILDER · RESEARCH INTERNTake responsibility for a real piece of work. Ask good questions. Build the first version. Test what I assumed. Improve it.
Still early.
Already hands-on.
01 / Research experience
A computer-vision assignment built in a research environment, where accuracy and careful reasoning mattered more than a flashy interface.
Reticule crosshairs and telemetry graphics can hide important visual information in video frames. The task was to identify those regions and reconstruct a useful approximation of the pixels beneath them.
I implemented a Python workflow using CSV mask matrices, vectorised NumPy operations, and neighbour-pixel reconstruction with np.roll to process frames efficiently.
Research engineering rewards precision. I learned to break visual problems into measurable operations, validate intermediate output, and explain technical choices clearly.
02 / Hackathon experience
Hackathons taught me a different side of engineering: decide what matters, divide the work, integrate early, and make the demo tell a clear story.
Worked on an AI-assisted Python analysis and repair platform under a compressed build cycle.
Helped prototype a checkout trolley connecting software logic with ESP32 hardware and sensors.
